Specialized Meeting on University-Mining Sector Interaction Held in Kurdistan

According to the Public Relations of the University of Kurdistan, the meeting took place on Monday, June 29, 2026 (8 Tir 1405), hosted by the University of Kurdistan at the Faculty of Engineering. Attendees included faculty members from the Department of Mining Engineering, managers and experts from the provincial Organization of Industry, Mine, and Trade, as well as representatives from local mining companies and mines.

At the beginning of the session, the University of Kurdistan’s educational, research, and specialized capacities in providing scientific, investigative, and consultancy services to the mining and mineral industries were presented. Furthermore, potential areas for expanding joint cooperation between the university and the industry were outlined.

In addition to proposing strategies for developing collaboration, the participants emphasized the continuity of cooperation between these two sectors and the utilization of legal frameworks, specifically Notes 5 and 10 of Article 14 of the Executive Regulations of the Mining Law.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included the implementation of joint research projects, the definition of student projects, the expansion of internship programs, and the utilization of faculty expertise to address the technical issues and challenges facing the mining and mineral industries.

This meeting marks a significant step toward strengthening university-industry ties, promoting problem-oriented research, and enhancing the university's role in resolving challenges within the province's mining and mineral sectors.
