Configuration Processing of Spatial Structures

Abstract:

Spatial structures consist of large families of lightweight structural systems appropriate for many different projects. One of the key steps of the design of spatial structures is the generation of geometrical data required for complex geometries in an efficient manner, refers to as configuration processing.
This webinar introduces the main families of spatial structures and their application in different projects through a number of examples from all over the world. Also, some fundamental information about the configuration processing techniques will be discussed.

Biography:

Dr. Alireza Behnejad is a Senior Teaching Fellow (Associate Professor) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Surrey, UK. He is the Director of the Spatial Structures Research Centre established by Prof Z S Makowski in 1963. Alireza has also had thirteen years of experience as an Architect and Director of a company in the field of design and construction of prefabricated lightweight structures, prior to joining the Centre.
He is also a member of the University Ethics Committee.
Dr. Behnejad is Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Space Structures, a member of the Executive Council of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS), and the founding chair of the working group on Teaching of Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS-WG20). He is also the Chair and Head of the Organising Committee for the Spatial Structures Conference, the first IASS fully virtual conference to be organized by the University of Surrey in August 2021.
