In pursuit of strengthening science diplomacy and expanding cross-border higher education interactions
Emphasizing the Expansion of Global Networking; University of Kurdistan's Director of International Affairs Attends the National "New Horizons" Conference
The first national conference on "New Horizons in International Scientific Activities of Universities, Institutions, and Educational, Research, and Technological Centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran" was held on June 15-16, 2026 (Khordad 25-26, 1405), hosted by the University of Tehran and in collaboration with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. This major national event served as a gathering for directors, policymakers, and senior experts in the international sphere of the country's higher education sector.
The core focus of this summit was brainstorming and analyzing strategies for developing cross-border scientific collaborations, improving placements in global ranking systems, facilitating the recruitment process of international students, strengthening science diplomacy, and identifying the challenges and obstacles facing the internationalization of Iranian higher education.
Highlighting the significance of science diplomacy in the current academic climate, Dr. Hossein Bevrani, Director of International Affairs at the University of Kurdistan, described the participation in this conference as a strategic achievement. Regarding the outcomes of the event, he stated: "This conference provided a valuable opportunity to become thoroughly acquainted with the country's latest macro-policies in the field of internationalization. Furthermore, benefiting from the successful experiences of leading universities and exchanging constructive views with other directors and experts in this field outlines a clear roadmap for the future."
The effective presence of the Directorate of International Affairs of the University of Kurdistan at this scientific event was carried out within the framework of utilizing national experiences and developing networking with relevant institutions.
