University of Kurdistan Holds the 4th Virtual Consultation Meeting with International Students
The session was attended by Dr. Mohammad Razaghi (Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies), Dr. Ali Soleiman Jahan (Director of Academic Affairs), Dr. Ghobad Shafiei (Director of International Affairs), Dr. Kamran Chapi (Director of International Students), experts from the International Affairs Office, and a large gathering of international students.
This meeting was organized to address the academic and student affairs challenges faced by international students regarding virtual learning. It also aimed to inform them about the university's latest academic regulations concerning final examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a supportive environment for their continued education.
At the beginning of the session, the Director of International Affairs and the Director of International Students delivered welcoming remarks. While expressing regret over the restrictions caused by the COVID-119 outbreak—which prevented international students from being physically present on campus—they emphasized that such consultation meetings are highly effective in addressing students' questions, clarifying ambiguities, and resolving educational barriers.
Subsequently, Dr. Razaghi, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, briefed the international students on the university's latest approved academic policies, focusing on:
-
a) Regulations and modalities for conducting virtual final examinations.
-
b) Criteria and conditions for dropping a single course.
-
c) Procedures and conditions for a complete semester withdrawal.
-
d) The updated final examination schedule.
During the interactive segment of the meeting, the participating international students raised their academic and administrative concerns. Their primary inquiries and discussions revolved around: final exam evaluation methods and platforms, tuition fee payment procedures, extension of student residence permits and visas, the schedule and format of Persian language training courses, procedures for submitting and registering research proposals, and the process of issuing and receiving graduation diplomas. The university officials present provided comprehensive and tailored responses to each query. The session lasted for two hours and concluded at exactly 24:00.
Note: Currently, nearly 500 international students from Syria, Afghanistan, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq are enrolled at the University of Kurdistan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they returned to their respective home countries in mid-March 2020 and have been actively participating in their academic courses virtually during the current semester.
