University of Kurdistan Secures 17th Position Among Ministry of Science Universities
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Office, the 12th edition of the U.S. News & World Report global university rankings for 2026-2027 has been published. This ranking system is based on 13 key indicators in the fields of research performance, global and regional reputation, and the development of scientific diplomacy, utilizing data from the Clarivate database covering the period from 2020 to 2024.
In the recent assessment, the University of Kurdistan, with a total score of 28.9, achieved a global ranking of 1500 and a ranking of 583 in Asia. Nationally, it secured the 35th position among all Iranian universities (including comprehensive, technical, and medical universities). By separating medical universities, the University of Kurdistan solidified its position at 17th among universities under the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Comparative data analysis highlights the university's strong academic performance regionally and nationally, placing it ahead of neighboring institutions in the western region, such as Urmia University (36th), Bu-Ali Sina University (47th), Lorestan University (51st), and Razi University (60th).
Looking at the national level more broadly, the University of Kurdistan has achieved a higher ranking than many well-known academic centers in the country. Based on these data, the performance of the University of Kurdistan is evaluated higher than institutions such as Kashan University (38th), Mohaghegh Ardabili University (39th), Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and the University of Guilan (41st), Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman (44th), Kharazmi University and the University of Mazandaran (49th), Shahrood University of Technology and Yazd University (51st), Zanjan University (54th), and Semnan University (56th).

This indicator represents the purposeful planning of the International Affairs Office in developing cross-border communications, attracting international students, and conducting joint research projects.

Subject Rankings: In specialized subject assessments, the university achieved a global rank of 1101 in Engineering and 1272 in Chemistry.
