University of Kurdistan Seeks to Enhance its Global Standing
University Internationalization Council Meets to Strengthen Global Collaborations
On October 07, 2024, the University's Internationalization Council convened to familiarize its members with the university's international activities and to outline the council's responsibilities. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Habib Soleimani, Director of International Affairs, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the significance of internationalizing the university and the role of the Internationalization Council in this endeavor. Subsequently, Dr. Ahmadpour, the meeting secretary, outlined the agenda for the attendees.
Ms. Lamiah Hashemi, the specialist in charge of Mobility programs and International projects, presented a comprehensive report on the university's internationalization status, the actions taken, the existing challenges, and the proposed solutions. She particularly emphasized the importance of activating research and educational collaborations with international universities.
During the meeting, council members discussed various topics, including activating international email access for faculty representatives, strengthening the role of faculty councils in advancing internationalization goals, and completing faculty international profiles.
Key outcomes of the meeting:
- Activation of international email access: To facilitate international communication, it was decided to allocate an international email to each faculty so that the faculty representative on the council can use it for international correspondence.
- Strengthening the role of faculty councils: Council members emphasized the importance of activating faculty councils to identify international collaboration opportunities and implement joint programs with foreign universities.
- Expansion of international collaborations: Participants emphasized the need to find new international programs, especially in research and educational areas, at the international level.
- Completing international profiles: Council members stressed the importance of completing the international profiles of each faculty in international databases so that the university can be better introduced globally.
The development of international collaborations requires the full participation of faculty, students, and staff. It is expected that all members of the University of Kurdistan community will work together with unity and increased effort to achieve the university's internationalization goals.
